Pacquiao vs. Clottey Fight

The fight between Pacquaio vs. Clottey was one of the most boring fights I ever watched in television. Boring in a sense that Clottey is his opponent. In fact, I skipped a couple of rounds and wrote a blog instead. Clottey is a strong puncher and have a great defensive strategy though sometimes used his dirty tactics.
.
Even Pacquiao was a bit frustrated the way Clottey fight, He even made a joke of Clottey's defense using an infraction rule punch using his two fist simultaneously like he was clapping cymbals (Pompyang punch, popularized in the movies of the late Fernando Poe Jr.). Anyway, let's leave everything to the experts and let's concentrate on how Arnel Pineda sung our "Philippine National Anthem" (again!?)
.
The National Historical Institute (NHI) has criticized a number of Filipino singers who had sung the Philippine National Anthem in recent fights of Pacquiao for supposedly creating their own interpretation of the song. The NHI is the government body tasked to ensure reverence for the national anthem, the Philippine flag and other national symbols.
.
Under Section 37 of Republic Act 8491 or the Flag and Heraldic Code: The National Anthem must be sung in accordance with the original musical arrangement of composer Julian Felipe, who gave it a marching tempo. Violators may be fined P5,000 to P20,000 or jailed for a year.
.
Why did he changed the last notes of the anthem?. To draw out attention to himself?, I hope not. Do Filipinos doesn't really care about the Laws of our land as long as "makakalusot naman" (get away with it) and they have the guts to say that it doesn't make them less of a Filipino?. If we don't have this law, "wala ng dapat pag-usapan", end of the story. I know we have more pressing problems to deal with but a simple law as this being violated and a simple issue like this not being resolved (for the longest time), how much more poverty, corruption,... and the list goes on and on. I cannot imagine.
.
Pineda said; "Ang sa akin ay kakantahin ko ito sa paraan na alam kong magugustuhan ng mga Filipino, bata man o matanda,"(For me, I will sing it the way I know the Filipinos, young and old will like it) . Okay, do it if it's your own song and if it's your concert.
.
Arnel Pineda just couldn't resist belting the last lines of the Philippine National Anthem. He should have learned from the previous artists who sung it and avoid criticism but praise. Let's wait for Pacquiao's next fight if the assigned singer will be criticized or not.
.
In fairness to Mr. Pineda, his rendition is far better than Mr. Martin Nievera's rendition. I am still proud of Mr. Pineda even if he failed to sing our National Anthem correctly, just because he made it to the international scene by being the lead singer of the band "Journey".

Finally... My Own Website

Finally, a website of my own. Thanks to Noel Nuguid for designing and hosting my website. I am lucky to get the domain name http://www.rickypascual.com/ (my name is too common). The website contains selected photographs I took. I hope I could post one photo a day.
.
If you are also interested in getting my service, rates are shown on "services" page. For now I am concentrating on birthdays, pre-nuptial and school events. I still need to learn more about covering weddings and hopefully attend seminars, though I covered 2 weddings to date.
